The Australian Diabetes Educators Association - leading and advocating for best practice diabetes education and care
The Australian Diabetes Educators Association (ADEA) is the national peak body representing healthcare professionals in diabetes education, management and care.
ADEA is also the regulatory body for the Credentialled Diabetes Educator (CDE®) certification. The CDE certification provides assurance to people with, or at risk of, diabetes – as well as their families, carers and health care providers – that they will receive quality diabetes education and advice.
ADEA is committed to promoting best practice in diabetes education, management and care in Australia and internationally, including:
- Promoting the goal of optimal health and quality of life and advocating for equitable access to quality diabetes education, management and care for all people living with, or affected by, diabetes
- Developing and disseminating standards
- Supporting and promoting the implementation of best practice diabetes education and care
- Accrediting and endorsing diabetes education courses delivered by universities and other organisations
- Promoting and conducting research to guide quality diabetes education and actively disseminating research results
- Liaising and collaborating with relevant bodies in Australia and other countries to advance the practice of diabetes education and to assist people living with, or at risk of developing diabetes, to achieve and maintain optimal health and quality of life.
We also provide a range of events, resources and professional development opportunities to support our members and other health professionals to enhance their knowledge of diabetes education, management and care.
An Exciting Opportunity to join ADEA
As a result of an internal promotion, an exciting opportunity has opened up for a new person to join the ADEA team as Education and Professional Development Officer. This is a full-time, permanent position.
Reporting to the Manager Professional Services and Education, the primary purpose of this role is to deliver a quality professional development program for members and other stakeholders in line with ADEA's education strategy. With a heavy focus on content development, this includes:
- Managing and developing diabetes education and management-related eLearning resources
- Facilitating the endorsement of external education activities
- Facilitating the accreditation of post graduate diabetes education courses delivered at a number of universities
- Supporting other education-related activities

The successful candidate will hold qualifications in a relevant discipline and will have experience in the health / primary health care environment. We are seeking someone with experience developing, implementing and evaluating health professional education, including experience with online education content.
Experience in NFP, member-based organisations and/or associations will be highly regarded but is not essential.
Highly developed oral and written communication skills, strong project management skills and excellent attention to detail will set you up for success in this role.
We're keen to hire someone who can apply some creativity and innovation to this role, in order to create cutting edge education content (e.g. podcasts, webinars).

The remuneration for this position is $96,250 (including super) plus up to $18,550 in PBI and salary sacrificing benefits.
The ADEA's main office is in Canberra. It would be great if the successful candidate was Canberra-based, however finding the right person for the role is of greater importance to us, which essentially means you have the flexibility of living/working wherever you choose in Australia!
